Watts Atelier 2012 Instructor and Student Show
In December we celebrated our 20th year in the
education business by hosting a student show at the local Encinitas
Library. The New Library is an incredible facility with a 180 degree
view of the Pacific Ocean. We had a
great turn out and the work was impressive.
We showcased instructor and student works demonstrating everything from Graphite
to Gouache to Oil and Watercolor. I hope
you enjoy some of the photo and I want to again congratulate everyone who
submitted and got in as well as all of the honorable mentions and award
winners. There were so many outstanding
efforts. We hope to see many of you back
for next year’s show.
Between the Holiday Party Raffle and the Library Show we raised over $3000 for the programs of the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Krista is working with the staff to purchase equipment and food storage bins to further the much needed programs of this local organization. Thank you to our generous instructors who donated artwork for the raffle and to all the participants of this show.

Annual Watts Atelier Holiday Party 2012
Once again we hosted our annual Watts Atelier Holliday shindig
celebrating our 20th Anniversary.
I can’t believe it has been that long.
I remember the first one and it had all of 10 to 12 people. What a difference two decades makes. Needless to say it went off without a
hitch. Thanks to the generosity of our
wonderful instructors we raffled off dozens of original paintings, drawings,
and classes. All of the proceeds are
donated to the Rancho Coastal Human Society, and organization that does
wonderful work here in the Encinitas community.
I am happy to say we raised just over $1300.00 for the critters. We also executed another round robin style
painting relay with all of the instructors painting for 20 minutes each. You can see the results below. This year we had modeling for us a Lincoln
impersonator William Peck. I met him
several years ago at a Civil War reenactment.
He is a spitting image of Lincoln and spends much of his time educating
youth on all things Lincoln. He is a
great model and we had a blast painting him. I hope you enjoy the pictures and
may you and your loved ones have a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year
from all of us at Watts Atelier.
Hopefully we will see you in a class or workshop in the coming year.
